Cleaning up the city

Bangalore produces 3500 tons of municipal waste a day. As the city grows, the BBMP is not able to provide sufficient landfills to contain the garbage. As a result, much of it is strewn around the city. The waste that does reach the landfills is not segregated and is hazardous to both the villages nearby and the rag pickers who make a living.

This is not something new; every resident of Bangalore knows this. But what can one do? Well, this is an extraordinary story of a few ordinary people who have shown the city the way to manage waste.
